About the area

MRT Wat Mangkon opened in 2019 as part of the Blue Line extension, finally giving Bangkok's Chinatown its own metro stop. The station is named after Wat Mangkon Kamalawat, the largest Chinese Mahayana Buddhist temple in the city, which sits a few blocks west of the exit. The station handles most modern day-trips into Yaowarat and the Sampheng-Chakrawat area.

From Wat Mangkon Exit 1, head north onto Charoen Krung Road, then take the first right onto Maha Chai Road. Our Chinatown branch is a short walk along Maha Chai, on the west side of the road, past Jay Fai. The total walk from the MRT exit is five to seven minutes on flat sidewalk.

Wat Mangkon Kamalawat itself is two minutes from the station and worth a stop if you haven't seen it. Talad Kao (the Old Market) and Sampheng Lane, two of Chinatown's wholesale-textile lanes, are five minutes west of the MRT. Yaowarat Road, the main Chinatown spine, is one block south.

Our 8am open is unusual for a Bangkok dispensary, but it matches Chinatown's morning food and temple traffic. People stop in early before a dim sum run or a Grand Palace day trip, and we close at midnight after the peak Yaowarat dinner rush. The neighborhood feels a long way from Sukhumvit, and that is part of the appeal.

The Chinatown branch keeps the same standard as our other four shops, but the customer mix and rhythm are distinct. Mornings bring temple visitors and food crawlers, afternoons bring day-trippers from the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, and evenings bring the Yaowarat night food crowd. Late hours are quieter here than at Nana or Silom.

We carry cannabis flower, the only legal form of cannabis in Thailand, kept in its original labelled packaging, plus FDA-approved CBD and THC edibles and drinks, health supplements, branded apparel, and accessories. Inside the shop there is room to sit with our knowledgeable team and talk it through without being rushed. Access here runs on Thailand's medical-cannabis model. Cannabis is a controlled herb under Ministry of Public Health rules, so every purchase needs a valid medical-cannabis prescription (form ภ.ท.33 / "PT 33"). That prescription is issued by a licensed practitioner after an in-branch consultation and assessment, never by us, since Siam Green is a licensed dispensary that supports the process rather than a clinic with its own doctors. Bring photo ID or a passport, service is for ages 20 and over, and public consumption is prohibited. Walk-ins welcome, the team works in English and Thai, and the shop is a useful first stop after a long MRT ride from Sukhumvit, since you arrive at street level on a relatively quiet stretch of Maha Chai. If you are visiting from abroad, note that foreign prescriptions are not valid in Thailand, and importing or exporting cannabis is prohibited.
