The ones still open look a lot different than the walk-in dispensaries you might’ve seen in old travel vlogs. So if you’re landing in Bangkok wondering what you can actually buy, here’s the real answer.
What Changed Since the “Cannabis Paradise” Headlines?
Back in June 2025, the government reclassified cannabis flower as a controlled herb. That one change did a lot. THC products now need a prescription from a licensed Thai practitioner. Public consumption is banned, and it comes with real fines, not just a warning. Thousands of shops shut down because they couldn’t meet the new licensing rules.
So the open, casual market from a couple years ago is gone. What’s left is more medical in nature, not recreational. That’s why Siam Green shifted to herbal clinic shops.
CBD vs. THC: The Difference That Actually Matters Here
